Look at the default web page early in the morning (about 8 EST) and it is 80% spam.

http://www.microchip.com/forums/default.aspx

I can read the site, but can't post due to my slow connection.

I'm interested in these new black magic products that Dario is offering. =-}

and the latest craziness.
They have now added the two letter word "Ji" to the swear filter, so now ANY word staring with "ji" gets censored.
e.g. "Jim" -> ""****m" :x
Latest test project, an LED matrix display made from one reel of addressable LEDs. here

The massive spam is mostly in the MPLAB X IDE forum. Maybe it's configured differently than the other forums.

Maybe we need to start encoding posts in binary, using * for 0 and ! for 1 (since I'm sure numbers will be banned soon because of the black magic telephone numbers). Maybe Ian can put together a script that decodes the binary posts.

Just as an aside:
There is a thread about MPLAB where people are asking to still be able to use MPLAB8.
This because of the misrable performance of MPLAB-X.
I was going to suggest another IDE on this thread so I navigated there only to find that somone named XGenerator has locked the thread.
See this post (and what is above).
XGenerator is an old hand, he has posted 280 times since he joined in 2009....

Google him and you will find he's the MPLAB X team manager. Obviously doesn't like criticism. Uncool.

Xgenerator locked that thread when the topic of Ariba came up.

Here's my guess...

The MPLABX team has been getting many complaints of the slow speed of the mplabx and haven't been able to improve the speed. Upper management has put speed on a list of problems to deal with and it is a "hot bug". Along comes this third party software that deals with the issue and has embarassed the mplabx team.

FWIW, there are other forums with problems.
I am frequently using the Embarcadero (formerly Borland) development forums albeit via the news mirror interface.
I have done so since 15-20 years or so and it has always worked.
Not so anymore, since about a week there is a message:

Site Maintenance In Progress
Forums is currently undergoing maintenance, and will be back online as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

So sadly two of my most frequently used web resources are now acting up at the same time... :cry:

Had to create a new Forum Upgrade 2.1 thread on the MC forum since Cindy locked the one we were using....

And now discussion in that thread is no longer possible...
Quick Reply: Submit just throws one to the top of the page without doing anything
Full version: Submit tells me Access denied, I do not have access permissions...

This is what I wanted to post in reply to the other posts:

My take is that there is a single issue:

The failed upgrade of the forum engine.

And keeping this in a single thread would make it less cluttered than with a lot of new topics in various sub-forums.
And where should they be placed so they are found (which sub-forum)?

One alternative could be to keep traffic in this thread minimized by posting a link here to any new flaw, which has gotten a separate thread.

Or maybe create a top level sub-forum where threads with specific flaws could be created and discussed and marked as solved. Then it would be simple to find them.

But I still think that keeping all notes on forum deficiencies here is the better approach when there is no dedicated sub-forum.....
