Low cost PICkit 3's on Amazon

Postby mcovington » Thu Jul 18, 2019 4:58 am

I see PICkit 3's for sale, apparently new and in quantity, for under $20 on Amazon.com and on eBay.

Are they genuine or clones? They are presented as the real thing, not as workalikes made by third parties.

Why is the price so low?

I see this for $19
https://www.amazon.com/PICKit3-Microchi ... ref=sr_1_4
Plainly a clone, the Microchip logo is totally missing.

and this for $20
https://www.amazon.com/Gosono-PICKIT3-P ... ref=sr_1_5
again, no logo. It's a clone.

then this for $74
https://www.amazon.com/Original-PICkit3 ... ref=sr_1_6
that's the real thing.
Latest test project, an LED matrix display made from one reel of addressable LEDs. here
