The oldest post of mine that Google can find on the Microchip forum is at https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/16867
which is dated "March 13, 2002". Not bad for someone who supposedly joined in 11/8/2003 !

In reality, I'd been posting on the predecessor of that forum software for a while before that.
According to this post https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/305746
I had 209 posts as of Sep-2002

I'm just curious if that was my oldest post. I pretty much doubt it, but just as many of the older user's name have been lost (and replaced by "guest"), I suspect a lot of the oldest posts have been lost.

I'm vaguely remembering there was a BBS before the forum?

I'm vaguely remembering we were both on it. :)
I think the BBS changed to some other software, then eventually on to an early "ASP Playground" back around 2002 or 2003.
Poking around on the wayback machine, it appears the URL changed from forum.microchip.com to microchip.com/forums at some point.

How do you even explain a BBS to someone who's had Internet their whole life?

Maybe like "How to send an email" to someone who has never had the Internet...

Hmmm, found one from Jan 2003 at https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/12391
The wierd thing is that the post# is lower than the post from 2002.
I suspect these are all posts imported from an earlier forum package, so the post # in ASP Playground doesn't align to the actual post date for imported messages.

... and one from 11-oct-2002 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/17054
Note the post # is much bigger.
Also note, analog inputs were causing exactly the same woes 18 years ago!

... and one from
... 25-mar-2002 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/12147
... 6-aug-2002 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/12293
... 18-sep-2002 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/12327
... 7-jan-2003 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/12391 (from above)
... 9-jan-2003 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/22736

n.b. there's lots of old posts signed by Mario, who unfortunately shows up as a guest these days. I wonder what ever happened to him, he vanished years ago.

Also note that some of your posts are dated a year before you joined the forum!

Indeed. That's why I said "Not bad for someone who supposedly joined in 11/8/2003 !"

I assume the real join dates were lost, and someone tried to regenerate them using some algorithm looking at post history.
I don't think anyone has an earlier join date. Everyone in those old posts has the same "11/8/2003" join date.

Your oldest post I can find is 26-mar-2004 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/32651
I guess that's close to correct, as it shows your join date as 11-Feb-2004.
Does that mean you really did join then, as opposed to being migrated from the previous board?

There's also:
10-apr-2004 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/34518
15-apr-2004 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/35067

1-may-2004 https://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/37090

I don't remember when I joined, but I started with PICs in '98, so it seems unlikely I would have waited that long.
