Hi from Philippines, North Central Luzon

Postby JimHagan » Thu Jul 21, 2016 6:54 am

Hi
Retired Brit with an interest in PICs.
Started about 2 years ago but had this past year away from it so only about a year of hobby work.
Using 16f84, 16f628 and 16f877 pics.
Lighting LEDS and 7 sement displays.
Not running right yet but willing to learn.
Looking forward to this forum and what I can learn here.

Are you sticking with those very old PICs because they are easy to get in your location?
If you have a choice, I'd advise jumping straight to the newer 16F1xxx family chips if you can.
Latest test project, an LED matrix display made from one reel of addressable LEDs. here

Hi ric
Thanks for the welcome.
I am running PBP3 Silver and Microcode Studio Plus Vers 5 which only supports one 16F1XXX PIC and that is 16F1937, not the 16LF1937.
So I will need to upgrade to Gold to get into the 16F1XXX'sand the other more modern PICS.
RS sell the 16F1937 and the LF for about Php250 for 2, free delivery so I'll order a couple of the 16F's in the next day or so.
Had a look at the pin layout and it is similar to the 877 Just need to learn the programming technique which will be fun i'm sure.
Regards
Jim

I'm afraid you will find someone here that uses same tools.
Guess most use the free tools from microchip...
