Just say Hi and ask a question

Postby imalan54 » Thu Feb 25, 2016 5:46 am

Hi from Spokane, Washington. I am pretty new at programming Pic's and was given a PICDEM-2 Demo board dated 1994. I was able to find documentation on the board but I don't have the software disk or the V1.0 test program for the PIC16C64 chip on the board. The chip says it is blank, and I was wondering if anyone knows a source for these files. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS
AL

Hm, I have such an old board but I don't find any software.
Anyway I think it is not a good idea to start with that stone-age PIC.
and a programmer, UV-eraser ...

Nowadays the PICs are programmed and debugged in circuit.
You could add the connections for InCircuitSerialProgramming to your board
get a modern PIC and a programmer/debugger like PICkit3.
-> http://www.microchip.com/pickit3
Or you buy a modern demo board like the curiosity that has programmer/debugger on board

Thanks for the reply. I already have a UV-eraser and a TL866A MiniPro Programmer which programs a lot of different Pic's. I just thought it would be fun to mess with this board if I could find the software for it. The board has Led's, push button switches, plug ins for a keypad and LCD.

As I said, you can easily modify the board to connect an in circuit programmer like PICkit and use a modern PIC.

Seems I have the first version of the user guide (DS30374-A) for the PICDEM 2. There are some program listings.
The later ones seem to have no listings and the code is on a disk only.

Try http://www.datasheetarchive.com/1--picd ... sheet.html
On the bottom you find a download for picdem2-v1.zip. There are other ones as well...
