I started getting server errors again today as well; I also got logged off while trying to make a post.

But on the bright side, all of the hundreds of spams appear to have been deleted.

I can't get past the server errors at all this morning.
It looks like the new "forum manager" is having a few problems...

I didn't see any spams in the last 10 hours or so, but they've just started up again. I don't know what time zone the "forum manager" is in, but it will be interesting to see if hundreds appear in the next 8 hours.

So the spam starts approx 10 am Indian time. (phone country code for India is +91)
An international botnet would not be tied so closely to business hours in a particular country.
I suspect its simply local "cottage industry" spam running out of various webcafes etc.

My script is keeping my screen 99% spam free at the moment and I've only had to add a single phone number so far today.

Most likely he is in Arizona, USA. We call that "Mountain Time" because it follows the Rocky Mnt. range.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_Time_Zone

But also you need to consider local time zone variations that can iunfluence his schedule:

Donut Local Time (DLT)
Before checking web site, must get donut before they are all gone.

Who Scheduled This Meeting Time? (WSTMT?)
Somebody scheduled a meeting at 8:00 in the morning and you are still eating you donut when people are assembling. Everybody is late and too sleepy to participate. Then there is a hunt for who scheduled this meeting so early. Followed by a lynching...

I just checked the "site". It had logged me off and wouldn't let me back on. The site is full of Indian spam and CindyNY, a longtime mod, was logged on.
In other words, business as usual.

Just got back on. No spam (yet). And 2 admins logged on, CindyNY and RoboPuppy. For what it's worth.

That would require that the Microchip site be sufficiently functional that you could actually respond to a thread. I've found that not to be the case on at least one thread today.

FWIW I have yet to see spam threads.
I have set up my profile to alert me of new posts in the PIC24 Topics sub-forum and I cannot recall when I last got a message about something spam like there.
I know it has happened before but quite seldom, not the massive spam that some here report.
Where is it?
