Request timed out....

I was writing a reply to a post here so I hit the Quick Reply button.
Then typed away in the edit box shown. Took maybe a few minutes.
When I hit the submit button I was greeted by a "Request timeout" message and the page with my text disappeared!
So now I have to re-type it from memory (or not bother).
Why is the Quick reply allowing such a short time for writing?
Seems totally wrong.
And it mimics the way the Microchip forum eats the posts sometimes such that Ctrl-A + Ctrl-C has been the standard practice there in order not to have to re-type stuff. Thought that this would not be required here....

BobAGI,
It might be because of something else not because of quick reply as even I got that message when I was posting that thread and I took some more time to finish typing and click on Submit button.
But, I got my text back as I just click back and all thing was there and Submit again worked fine.

Back did not work for me....

But I went back and tried again and when I clicked tyhe Quick button my previous text reappeared.
Added some new info and hit submit only to get the same message:
Your request timed out. Please retry the request.

Had to go back, hit Qick again and immediately hit submit. Then it worked.

Very strange.

It's not the forum software.
The web host appears to be having some connectivity problems today. It's Godaddy.com
Hopefully they will have their end sorted soon.

I'm having some issues with the web site for the past week...

I have to hit refresh up to five times to get a page to load. It might be my internet provider that is causing the issue, though, because they have suddenly, without warning, gone out of business. I can still dial in and connect, but their web site is gone and so is my web email account.

Other forum web sites are not having this issue though, so there is something unique about this site. It seems like this web site is timing out and my service provider server drops the link, so I have to prompt it repeatedly. It is stalling.

Didn't do that for the first few months of operation.

Ric -- I think it might be the forum software. I was typing a reply in the Quick Reply window, got a phone call, and came back about 30 minutes later. I finished the post , then clicked Full Editor to preview it. I got the "timed out message" immediately (i.e., it wasn't after my browser spun for a few seconds). The message was from the server, not from my browser. When I clicked back, the Quick Reply window was empty.

Unfortunately I lost the exact wording of the timeout message.

Edit: It turns out I didn't lose the text of my post. After clicking "back" in my browser, clicking the Quick Reply button opened the quick reply window which was populated with all of the text of my post. After posting, I then got a server timeout as the server redirected me back to the topic (which is clearly not related).

This thread has been quiet for a little while, but the problem is still there. I'm trying to reply to this thread and when I hit Preview, it sends me back to the Login page. Fortunately, I told my browser to save and auto-populate that information, so I can just click past it and get redirected back to the reply page...with a blank window. I paste my text back in, hit Preview, and it does it again...and again...and again...

I allow cookies until I close the browser, and I disabled my ad-blocker for this site, to no avail.

Somehow, I got this one through.
