Microchip forum, no longer jumping to last post in Chrome

Postby ric » Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:19 pm

As from a few months ago, the "jump to last read post" feature hasn't worked, it just opens a topic at the top.
This only happens in Chrome, Firefox is still ok.

Also, clicking a link such as http://www.microchip.com/forums/FindPost/1027747 which becomes http://www.microchip.com/forums/m1027709.aspx#1027747
will just open the top of the page, not post # 1027747.

I suspect it is because of this recent change to Chrome to improve performance:
https://developers.google.com/web/updat ... ment-write
This applied to slow connections from about Chrome version 54, but I saw somewhere that it is now more widely applied from version #60. We're up to version #62 now.

When I load the above page, I see these errors in the Chrome console:

I've been experiencing this 'issue' for a while now and it is really annoying.
However I'm not sure what the solution should be other than to get Microchip to update the way their forum is constructed - and that means that nothing will ever change.
Do you know of any 'user' workaround?

I have not yet found any Chrome setting to restore the old behaviour.
I suspect this is why some actions in Facebook aren't working in Chrome either.
If it continues like this, I may well switch my default browser from Chrome to Firefox.
